2) Join us at one (or all) of our four different sessions during Payroll Congress:
Strategies to Reduce State Unemployment Insurance Tax Rates (Tuesday, May 16 12:30 - 1:30 pm MDT) Employers continue to confront sustained levels of high state unemployment insurance (“SUI”) tax rates as workforce agencies attempt to restore the solvency of their unemployment trust funds. We will discuss strategies to reduce these tax rates, including a comprehensive unemployment cost management program that encompasses both claims management and tax management initiatives.
Prevention of Overpaid Employment Taxes (Thursday, May 18 10:00 - 11:00 am MDT) The combined cost of FICA (social security), FUTA (federal unemployment) and SUI (state unemployment insurance) taxes on employers can be significant. This session will highlight some of the most common causes of overpaid employment taxes: SUI rate revisions, mid-year wage base carryover, multi-state SUI sourcing, out-of-state SUI wage credits and other credits on employer’s accounts that can go unclaimed for years.
Helping Optimize HR in a High Turnover Rate Environment (Friday, May 19 9:45 - 10:45 am MDT) High turnover rates are creating more work for HR and causing implications such as higher tax rates. Join this session to learn how you can help lessen the impact to your bottom line and organization. We’ll cover tax credits opportunities, how SUI tax rates are affected, and how a smooth offboarding process can help with efficiency while keeping the door open for boomerang employees.
How Workplace Movement Impacts Payroll and HR Departments (Friday, May 19 2:30 - 3:30 pm MDT) Employers are always on the lookout for ways to grow, expand, and improve their businesses. Many times, these strategic initiatives include mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, or internal reorganizations. Join our panel discussion on how these complex transactions can affect payroll and HR departments as they are tasked with integrating payrolls, filing compliance paperwork, and onboarding new employees.
