Equifax Enhances Consumer Experience for The Work Number®

Enhanced consumer portal makes it easier for individuals to view, understand and control their employment data

We have enhanced the consumer portal for The Work NumberⓇ, making it even simpler for individuals  to view, understand and control their employment data. The fully refreshed site now includes a mobile-friendly design with enhanced accessibility, new educational tools, and more robust processes for consumers to view and manage their employment data.

When people apply for important services such as an apartment lease, auto loan or government benefits, they often need to provide proof of employment and/or income as part of the application process. With The Work Number, that proof can be provided to credentialed verifiers - such as landlords, banks or government agencies - instantly and digitally, without the consumer needing to set up a separate account with a third-party data sharing firm or having to retrieve and print off pay stubs.

“The Work Number model starts with the individual’s engagement and helps them keep important life events moving forward with the highest-class quality, security, privacy and convenience,” said Maria Hayes, Senior Vice President, Digital and Experience at Equifax Workforce Solutions. “With our newly enhanced portal, we are equipping consumers to better understand their employment data and its uses, as well as to take greater control of their data through our enhanced data freeze and data dispute functionality.”

Some key aspects of the upgraded consumer portal include:

  • 24/7 access to expanded Help and Support content including articles, user guides and frequently-asked-questions.

  • Continued instant and private access for an individual to see their Employment Data Report, so they can review their information in The Work Number.

  • New Data Freeze page, with explanations of options to freeze and unfreeze employment data as well as access to the data freeze request form.

  • New Data Dispute Center, with explanations of what individuals can expect during the data dispute process and a link to initiate a dispute if needed.

  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2 Level AA conformance, helping make the site more accessible for everyone.

  • Mobile friendly design, making it easier to use for today’s on-the-go consumer.

“We encourage everyone to visit employees.theworknumber.com to learn more about managing their employment data and to view their personal Employment Data Report,” added Hayes. “We are also investing in additional features, like Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) forms fulfillment, coming soon.”
