When it comes to technology, we have certain expectations as consumers. Whether it’s ordering something online, checking your bank account balance, or even placing an order for takeout food, we usually expect intuitive and easy-to-use applications that provide a seamless experience. When it comes to your employees utilizing technologies in the workplace, do they have that same experience? Or are your systems disjointed and less intuitive?
If you haven’t been taking the employee experience into account with your HR technologies, you may be putting yourself in a situation where your employees get frustrated and see you as behind the times. In a recent article, some suggested steps were laid out to help you assess new technology solutions from the employee’s perspective, including “Does it offer an easy, flexible way to get answers to the questions I have about HR, benefits, policies, and programs?”
For example, if one of your employees is trying to purchase a home, a car, or qualify for government assistance, they want that process to happen as quickly as possible. The lender or government agency cannot complete that transaction without verifying their income and/or employment, and that needs (and in some instances, is required) to come from you, the employer, or your designee. Many of these transactions tend to happen outside of traditional working hours, further complicating the process.
