Session: Unemployment Benefits: Managing the Pandemic Aftermath

Tuesday, August 3, 10 AM to 11 AM

Join Equifax Workforce Solutions as we present, Unemployment Benefits: Managing the Pandemic Aftermath on Tuesday, August 3 from 10 AM to 11 AM.

Karl Bierach, UC Solutions Engineer at Equifax Workforce Solutions will discuss impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on HR and how unemployment processes and best practices have changed.

On the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic and its dramatic effects on unemployment across the country, unemployment claims have represented an all new level of focus for employers. Add to that, the sudden onset of nationwide UC fraudsters/imposters, and you have a recipe for even higher volumes and potential overpayments. Regardless of the reasons for a surge in your unemployment claims activity, it is still up to you, the employer, to respond to every claim to monitor for undeserved or unwarranted benefit payment. And the higher the number of former employees that have collected unemployment benefits, the higher your tax cost will be. As a result, many employers are worried about continuing unemployment claim volumes, the impact of imposter claims, and the financial uncertainty of future SUI tax rates.

Join us to recap 2020, discuss the current climate and best practices for unemployment claims, and the implications for 2021 and beyond.

 Areas covered in this session:

  • Unemployment overview, including legislation updates

  • Best practices for responding to claims; even when there is potential fraud

  • Importance of auditing charges and spotting common errors

  • Measuring the success of your program
